ATF quick visual comparison of new vehicle

Post by Ali3n »

Recently we bought a new (second hand) vehicle and it has a problem with gear shifting. Sometimes it is jerky, then sluggish, when changing up from 3rd to 4th it is as if the car is inviting the 4th gear to come to the party after throwing 3rd gear out.

Took the car back to the dealer for this problem and a few other issues. Got the car back with no difference in the gear changing. Had a meeting with them yesterday and they have vowed to sort out the matter and assured me that it would be sorted out.

But what stood out was that they said that the ATF oil had been replaced. I called BS on this.

This is a quick test I did last night.

Circled in red is a sample from the dipstick
Circled in blue is a cheap ATF from a garage
Circled in yellow is Toyota ATF - T-IV from black steel 4L containr.

How can reputable dealers believe that their clients are completely clueless...
