2007 3.0 D4D - Catalytic Converter?
Hello guys and ladies.
I have a 2007 Hilux Raider 3.0d4d 4x4 which has 162 000km on clock.
Was wondering if it has a Catalytic converter on the exhaust. Will removing the Cat make any difference in performance/fuel consumption?
Also noticed when the turbo is under boost and I stop accelerating the turbo whine can be heard as the van is decelerating. its like a long whistle. Is that normal?
Thank you

I had one, and I don't think that it came with a CC. Secondly I assume that you have a vacuum leak on the turbo, might be something small (vacuum pipe leak) or major, non in between. Is it your km done on the vehicle or have you just obtained it? Welcome to the Forum.

Thanks for the welcome and reply Rian.
Would a vacuum leak have any negative effect on the turbo itself?
I have just obtained the vehicle. It was bought from a friend whom looked after it properly.
Has full service history also. vehicle has been offroad once (when beach driving was legal).

Hi
I do own a 2007 model and no CC. For extra power I installed a Unichip and what a difference it made. Something to consider perhaps for that extra power.

Do you guys think a freeflow box and slightly bigger pipe will make a difference or rather just chip

Thanks for the replies gents.
Stephan I think it would allow gasses to flow more freely and in turn your turbo will run cooler.
If I had to do a downpipe before going the chip route will there be a significant difference?

I think that a bigger pipe is in order if you are wanting to chip...
If not, then just free flow, which will be of slight assistance...

Thanks Haboob. I was thinking a downpipe would make the turbo spool up quicker

Hi all
I am considering getting a 2007 petrol or diesel.
See the diesel has no CC fitted. Does that mean the petrol will also not have a CC?
I am in two minds about the petrol/diesel and just don't know...
Ideas?

Depends on your pocket and the condition of the vehicle.
Diesel gives better consumption and will make your eyes water when things start going wrong...
Petrol has more oomph, but will make your eyes water everytime you visit the pumps...
