Welcome Jacobus. The current odometer reading should bear testament to the engines reliability but then one doesn't know the engines history of the engine as far as previous repairs are concerned.Good luck and enjoy the vehicle. There are very few other brands of engines to have that mileage.

Welcome Jacobus!
As far as I've heard, the heads can give problems, but much depends on how the vehicle has been treated. If it's worked hard consistently carrying heavy loads or towing, or hammered, that's not good. A FSH would help to determine the vehicle's history and how it's been treated. If it doesn't already have one, fit and EGT gauge and drive it conservatively - you might get another 325K kilos. Enjoy it!

Welcome Jacobus. The fact that the engine is on 325,000Km and is still going strong says to me it's been looked after well. Hope it give you many more happy kms and memories!

The heads on turbo diesels crack when they get too hot while towing or if it is driven like a racking car.
If you treat it nicely and remember that it is in fact a diesel it will take you another 300k km.

The Prado 120 shares the 3000 turbo diesel engine of the KZTE, ie just before the D4D range.
My neighbour has this Prado.
the head cracked and was replaced. Think it cost something like R12k. Thus actually a cheap item to fix.
The guys go for the AMC (?) head ....
If memory serves my right, even Hoppy had to replace the head on his 3000 diesel.

Look after her and drive a Diesel like a farmer and not like a racing driver and you should get many more kilometres out of her...

Hi Jacobus.
As jy mooi agter hom kyk gaan hy agter jou kyk...!

Don't fix it if it aint broken...
You can do things like timing chain and a complete grease & service...
If there are oil leaks, then replace the seels and check the wheels for play (movement that may indicate wheel bearing problems)...
Check that all the mountings are still fine & that all the nuts & bolts are properly tight, then you should have another 300 000 km's left in her...
If you want to fit an EGT then it will set your mind at ease...
ENJOY...
