Could somebody pse explain the purpose of the knob inftont of the towball..as per the pic.

It is a detachable ball, you can unscrew the ball and take it off if not in use. My towbar has a pin in from left to right so to speak, The pin in question is tighten to stop the detachable part from rattling while driving.

I very seldom drive with mine on because of the above and shop lifting. it is quick and easy to steal even if locked.
