Previous generation 2.5 D4D or 3.0 DVD which one???
If one remove the following from the equation: Power (speed and torque). Which one would be the better buy in terms of fuel economy and reliability? You honest opinion would be greatly appreciated Are there any 2.5 D4D owners out there that regret not getting the 3.0? please be honest

I had the 2,5 until a few weeks ago.
Even with a standard glass fibre canopy the 2,5 use MORE fuel than the 3,0.
passing trucks took some serious planning .....
Eventually fitted an intercooler and chip to the 2,5, and fitted a free flow box at the back. Marked improvement in both response from the engine, better passing ability, and also reduced fuel economy - BUT, as with any chip, put foot and she DRINKS ....
for the same money - buy the 3,0.
all that said - I LOVED the 2,5 on long trips. But then we were idling along at 105 to 115km/h.
NOT the vehicle if you are in a hurry.

I have the 3.0 D4D and for towing I would definitely recommend the 3.0. Overtaking is a breeze and you never feel that the motor is over stressed as power is there when needed.

The 3l is much better cruiser as the 2.5. Had both. Will only buy the 2.5 as a work horse in future, not for long distances where you have to overtake trucks.

Had both and the 3.0d is definately the best and quietest, not a lot of difference in mpg.
