hi to everyone and thank you for allowing me to join. my hilux is a 89 rn105 single cab . I will post a picture as soon as I work out how ,not very good with computers .
now down to more pressing matters . I completely rebuilt my brakes about a week ago and have been have problems since , front discs seem to be coming on without pedal input ????? can any body help ????

Hi and welcome Tony!
This is a first for me, I cannot see how the brakes will activate without the pedal. It will be interesting to know how this happens - is it not perhaps only when the fluid heats up and expands? - it should push back into the reservoir unless it's obstructed in the master cylinder .... did you service the master with a kit maybe? .....

Why do you say that the front discs are coming on without input? Do you feel it braking or simply hear the pads in contact with the discs?

The only thing can be the setting.
I purchased a caravan and the brakes were set to tight.
They were loosened and still too tight after a few killos driving/towing, so did another loosening setting. They are now fine. Just keep working on the setting till you get them right. Hope it helps and that your problem gets sorted.
More mechanically minded members on the forum would probably have other or better solutions. Good luck.

Edge, It's the front brakes that Tony is talking about. They are hydraulic, the only mechanical elements are the pistons pushing the pads onto the discs, the pedal, pedal linkage and master cylinder piston.
