STIFF/STICKING GEAR SHIFT WHEN COLD IN 1ST AND 2ND
MOST RESEARCH SO FAR SAYS CHANGING THE G/BOX OIL SHOULD HELP . ONCE WARM ALL IS FINE BUT COLD STARTS ARE TOUGH in 1st and 2nd . WHAT ABOUT MASTER/SLAVE CYLENDER ? PLEASE CAN I HEAR YOUR EXPERIENCES . THIS IS A 1999 2.7i , DOUBLE CAB RAIDER, 4X4 IN OTHERWISE IMMACULATE CONDITION . 225000 km's on the clock .

If the problem is only when cold, then it's not the clutch hydraulics. Gearbox oil makes a big difference, so I would definitely start there. The other possible factor could be the spigot bearing that may be a bit stiff and transferring a bit too much torque into the spigot shaft even when you are de-clutched .... as it warms up it runs more freely again.

Another possible factor that could have some influence is wear of the syncro rings in the box itself. This happens over time but in most cases it's so little that it's usually not the main cause of the problem.

Replace the gearbox oil and see what it does

As an Isuzu owner , from experience. I had my gear box done up and the repairer put in normal std gear box oil. Changing gears was difficult until warm , got home drained gear box oil and put in Castrol Bot 402 full synthetic gear oil. Gears slip in smooth ( for a 2003 ,4x2 it says a lot) . Perhaps Toyota has a similar oil for your gear box .
