Purchasing a 2001 to 2005 model

Post by gelic.ninja »

Either KZTE or 2.7 raider with +/-300000km

Yay or Nay? if the bakkie has partial or full service history?

Heard from a few buddies of mine that are avid fisherman that the mileage means nothing if its been serviced regularly?

Full Service record is very important!!!

Shows you if the vehicle was well maintained

Go for the 2.7, far less that can go wrong if services are dubious.
The first 2.7 had better fuel economy, I think is before 2003. The 2003-2005 face lift had a little bit more power but worse fuel consumption.

On a 2.7 the millage not a big deal. Mine now on 475,000 and still going strong. I know of 2.7 engine that easily did between 600,000 and 700,000km without problems.

Lekker bakkies. Still regret selling mine!

Is was produced for late 1998 till mid 2005.

As said, much less that can go wrong on the 2.7's.

Nothing wrong with a KZ,
but if you buy with high mileage with dodgy service/maintenance I would prefer 2.7
and then of course you get people who manage to ruin a 2.7 engine within 200,000km as well but like Thabo said less can go wrong on a 2.7.

Agree on the pre 2000 2.7.
My 1999 2.7 double cab close to 600 000, and engine still running like a dream. Really hassle free vehicle.
Had the SAC treatment at 525 000 and that did increase power, and improved fuel consumption.
