Hi all, I've recently purchased an imported 1989 Hilux Double Cab here in the US. However, since it's former life as a Japanese firetruck, it's missing its glove box. I was hoping a LHD box would fit in the RHD trim, but alas, I was wrong. I've found a Hilux Surf glove box assembly for sale in BC, Canada, and I was wondering if anyone could confirm my thinking that it is the same part.
Thank you!

Re: Hilux vs Hilux Surf Glove Box
Hi, welcome to the forum!
If it is the same model in respect of the age of the vehicle, it should fit fine. Best is to get pics of the Surf dashboard and we can then match this up with a similar model Hilux.

Re: Hilux vs Hilux Surf Glove Box
Chances are very slim that it will fit.
The dashboard of the 1989 Surf is more like the dash of the 1999-2005 Hilux. But they are not identical.
The 1989 Hilux glove box is much more square in shape than the Surf's

Re: Hilux vs Hilux Surf Glove Box
This is what they looked like in South Africa.
In other countries there was a Hilux which has the same shape as the Surf. That shape's glove box should be the same as the Surf.
Post a pic of your Hilux so we can see.

Here's a few pictures. I'll remember to take a better picture of the dash when I'm next at it.

Man that is an amazing red truck.
Kudos.
My 2 cents, get a cutom cut piece of Sheet metal, colour it RED and use that to close up the glove-box opening.
