Is it different from a 4Y carb?

As far as I remember I think the 22r has different jet sizes.

If that's the only difference, I might have a 4y carb for you. Took it off when I fitted a Golf carb and I don't think there was anything wrong with it, except being heavy on fuel. Might need an overhaul.

Tell me Dax, are you happy with your Golf conversion? What is your power like? Fuel consumption?

Very happy. Consumption from a previous 6-6.5Km/L to an average of 7.5-8Km/L. Engine just gone 300K. No issues with stalling on inclines or any other. Maybe I just haven't pushed it to the limit yet. Power is the same if not a bit better, but never scientifically tested, just my gut feel.

In saying this, I would be happier with an EFI system, but just don't have the money.

Well I have managed to find a carburettor rebuild centre in Paarden Island, the owner runs a turbo charged 2.2 carb double cab with 33's. They will rebuild the entire carb from the ground up. If he is good I will post pics but it looks really promising. He says he does on average about 3 hilux carbs a week :o: and he is so busy he cannot keep up. Should get the bakkie back this week.

So my carb has been rebuilt by Carburettor Centre Address: 40 Section St, Paarden Eiland, Cape Town, 7405
Phone: 021 511 6819. I am very happy with the result and I would recommend him fully. The carb was cleaned in an acid bath and had all parts replaced top to bottom. I have a 6 month guarantee except on dirty fuel. My rubbish idle as not disappeared although the bakkie runs about 150% better. The owner of the shop puts this down to a non aftermarket dizzy, he says he has had this prob before with a corolla and as soon as an original part was installed the slight miss went away. I think that sounds plausible because of the sizing of the advance and retard weights ETC it would make sense.
