Hi
I put Bosch on my lux.
Good news is that it stops, bad news is that they are very dusty.
But I can pay for a wash with the money that I saved by not letting Toyota do it.

I like the Bosch Pads as they are quite soft. This means a little more dust and they will not last as long. The benefit is that they stop well and do not unduly wear the brake disks.

Hi guys

Would warranty be affected if we replace pads elsewhere

Like you mentioned, Toyota is pricey on parts and labour!

Are there a lot of Bosch pads knockoffs going around? How do you tell the difference?

mmmmm, my 1999 Hilux's brakes are always screeming. Was worst with Feredos and still there with ATE.

Maybe I should try these softies and see if it solve the screeming problem.

Definitely worth a try although the ATEs are also quite soft in my experience.

Unfortunately I have no idea. I suppose the best way is to look at the packaging. With knockoffs they always skimp on the packaging. On the pads one should look at things like and anti-vibrating damping material (Does it appear of a good quality if there is any on), the composition of the friction material (Is it consistent in composition or does it contain shards of copper/metal that clearly looks rough) and the overall finish of the product such as the painting and the lettering.

Check out this video on how to check if Bosch Parts are genuine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrRqEP9Ugx8

Even if not following the process in the video you at least know to check for the secure key code on the Bosch part.

Surely the rip-off artists will have a legitimate product code on the packaging as well .......
