Hi
Is it possible to determine, from either a Toyota Fortuner Engine Number or Chassis Number on what day the engine/chassis was built? What other data is contained in that number?
What's in a Toyota Fortuner Engine Number/Chassis Number

You can phone Toyota and request a letter with that information if you give them the VIN number

Willem, the VIN for the vehicle will always (irrespective of brand) show country of manufacture, factory ID, chassis spec, engine spec and colour ending with the vehicle unique serial number.
But your local dealer can tell you date of manufacture from their BOM system and also selling dealer, if you are lucky will give you the name of the first customer.

Know what you don't know.

Probably the easiest way to decode a VIN on a Toyota is to use ToyoDIY. You can get info on things such as the build date, the vehicle specs (engine, transmission, etc.) and the vehicle colour.
