Fortuner as tow vehicle?

Post by Polarbear2008 »

Mate of mine is thinking of getting rid of his 3.8 Pajero SWB and buying a Fortuner. He's got a semi-rigid boat that he launches from time to time around the Cape coast.

How is the Fortuner as a tow vehicle? He is considering the 2010/2011 model with the traction control and larger wheels.

What is the tow capacity that the Fortuner can handle safely?

Any and all info will be greatly appreciated!

I have a 2010 4l auto 4x4 and it is a great tow vehicle. I also have a 4,5l 96 80 series GX and the tuna tows easier. I think it is the auto box. I tow my gypsey regal, jurgens explorer and a 23,5 ft ski boat with ease. As a test to sea the power, i stopped at the robot at the bottom of sir lowrys (somerset west side, that new robot at gordons bay turn off). i had to lift my foot off when i hit 160. Power is no probs
