Definately the 08, its a 4x4 and manual, the facelift is just extra fancy plastic and buttons

I know the 1st Fortuner's have a stabilty issue.(Some say it was rear suspension and other say incorrect tyres).Does the 4x4 not suffer of that problem?I once say a 4x2 at about 80kph skid on a wet road and flip over.I just want a safe realiable family vehicle.

Jaaa, I heard that too but I have never had a hassle- keep in mind that it is a mid-wheelbase with a light'ish rear and can do 180km/h. Anyway, I would go for the 2008 model because mileage 50 000 is lower and it is 4x4. The 4x4 is all-wheeldrive and will ALWAYS handle better than 4x2

I would also go with the 2008 4x4. Before my current 4x4 Fortuner I had a 4x2 Hilux as I though I did not need 4x4. Guess what, eventually you will swap for the 4x4...

If you drive too fast for the conditions you have you will have problems with just about any vehicle...
The 4X4 will get you to many more places than the 4X2...
Other vehicles may be faster, but you will be able to go anywhere...

Go for the '08 4x4, don't waste your money on the 4x2. I've been driving my '07 4x4 now for a year and a half now and NEVER felt unsafe :!: I must add that I did replace the standard suspension with the Mikem suspension Which has the progressive coils at the back, no problems :!: :!: :!: I have also towed an Echo 3 and Jurgens XT 140 trailer for long distances now with great ease and absolute stability. I'm very satisfied with my wagon

Go for it, you won't regret it
