On my Fortuner - middle rear seat, there is a very apparent problem with the setup of the safety belts. The anchor points of the right hand seat and the middle seat have been mounted the wrong way around, i.e. the safety belts would overlap if there were people sitting in these two positions.
Secondly, the strap of the middle safety belt has been twisted around and then attached to the plastic slider that fits around the belt...obviously incorrect. Has anyone else picked up on this? - Difficult to describe exactly what I mean, but if there are other people with the same problem, I will report to Toyota.
Fortuner Safety Belt defect
Re: Fortuner Safety Belt defect
Just double check again, I also thought I had a similar problem as my kids complained they could not use the safety belts.
After inspecting I found they were using them the incorrect way and not so simple to figure it out.
Otherwise take it back

Re: Fortuner Safety Belt defect
Pic1: See how the safety belt buckle for the left-hand seat is mounted on the right-hand side of the safety-belt strap for the middle seat, i.e. if there were occupants in both these seats - the belts would essentially be crossed over when attached. Does that make sense?
Pic 2 & Pic 3: The safety belt end was twisted around once and then sewed on to the retainer clip - how can anyone look at this and say that it is "normal"???
Has anyone else got the same problem?

Checked mine, but it is straight. There must be a fault!

Re: Fortuner Safety Belt defect
My Letter to Toyota SA...
Hi
I am the proud owner of a Fortuner and I generally can't complain about
the vehicle. There are however a couple of issues that irritate me, mostly
because when I point them out to my local Toyota dealer I get told that
"this is normal"...which I don't beleive is possible. So please review my
issue and advise me on these defects that I have identified:

I am part of a public Fortuner Forum and I have posted this issue there as
well - I will also post this communication between myself and the response
that I get from Toyota SA.
Thanks!
