My baby is purring again

Yesterday I got my bakkie back from Allen (AKA Hoppy).He did a rebuild/overhaul of my motor.
All I can say is WOW and WOW again. The motor is pulling like never before. I can feel some nice low down torque again. 8)
When I put my foot down my baby just want to run.YEEHAA.
I have to nurse it for a few hundred k’s, but after that I can not wait for Atlantis.

Hi Niel
If you recall my bakkie did not perform well at Atlantis and remember that sand hill at Tierkloof I could not come up.
Basically my motor did not pull at all. I had no low down torque. Had to rev the hell out of it to get it going.
I took it to Allen and he started to open it up. At the end I had to get a new head, crank, main bearings, new engine mountings, piston rings etc.
In short my motor had it.

The last Chinese motor we bought at AutoZone was only something like R5600.00, at the beginning of the year. Mine has done only about 5000Km so far, but sounds very sweet and is pulling very nicely. I still have my original 4Y engine though, done up and in storage. The refurbishment of it was around R7500.

Now if you get the revs up to 4500 and you snap it from 1st to 2nd, smoke comes out from the rear tyres....

Hi Rich.It basically works out the same as a Chinese motor.I opted for the origenal.With this rebuilt we also port and polished the head and the cam is a brospeed.
