Sfa Engine Swop

Post by Tyrone D4D »

Hey guys.

Earlier this week I drove past a car dealership with a decent looking Sfa standing in front of the dealership.I just saw the Sfa posted on Gumtree for 50k!!!Looks good with some kit but It has had a motor swop to a 3l Cressida motor. Is it a decent motor or a money pit???

That would most likely be the 7mge motor then, Decent motor, at one time a popular and fairly well balanced conversion into the SFA providing the conversion was done properly. The only possible downfall might be that they are now rather old motors and spares will become more scarce. Nowadays the guys doing conversions are more in favour of the Lexus V8 ... more power with similar fuel economy, the motors and spares are more readily available and it's a bit cheaper to source the Lexus motor. 50K really doesn't sound too bad it the body and drive-train are good.

Tyrone it all depends on who did the conversion. Besides the Lexus that is the nicest All-Toyota conversion there is on the market. If you are serious and you want a second opinion you can ask Hoppy to check it out for you..

Tyrone, Thys' opinion may be a little biased on the 7M conversion....... but with good reason. But yes, the scream of an inline six is rather addictive.

... you could be buying a money pit.

Offer them 40k IRO the bodywork and interior that need doing and settle for 45k. ;-)
