Shopping list

Post by Blue Tortoise »

Good day.
I purchased a 1998 2.4 D/C Ltd edition. It is in pristine condition with all the accessories needed. One problem, it sucks juice like a V8. Before joining this forum I have read about the EFI conversion. Is there anyone who can give me a shopping list of all components needed to do this conversion. All previous posts are pre 2010, is there any updates or advice please

Welcome and congrats on your purchase on your LTD I myself also have one and just finished my EFI conversion but still need to test the fuel consumption on it but the bakkie drives so much smoother after the conversion.

Your basic list is:
Bottom manifold
Top manifold
injectors
fuel rail
throttle body
management (DICKTATOR OR WHAT YOU WANT)

Hi no such ting as dim question the 22r-e we never got in south Africa  so you would have to source one on the net or just keep eyes on your post im sure there is someone here that can help you better than me im not so familiar with importing things you only got the EFI over seas that is the down side of it all. But that it works better I can confirm its really worth it for me.

Thanks Martin. I'm not sure how the site works but I'll look him up. Anything is better than 4.7 - 5.2 km/l

Geoff have a look at some of the engine importers as when I had a 4Y they were willing to swop carb for fuel injection manifold and that consumption looks very high looks as if something is wrong maybe speak to kempton carb and they might have some advise.

Engine importers rarely import th3 22re, the chance is 1% you find one.

Keep in mind guys at E-Bay are very reluctant to export so South Africa. Look carefully what the add says, I tried a few with no success. Remember too when you import that one can add almost a bit less on the value of the Manifolds cost price to transport then add vat only to the part itself. Then you add 10% Tax to the value of the part.

Lets say you use the Add that Stampie put on, $175 = R1955.20 for the manifold, R1850 for freight, R240 Vat and then R177.75. The total will come to R4022.95 roughly depends on the exchange rate and the amount used on freight. Also depends on South Africa's customs as well, they tend to overcharge sometimes. Above is only on the Manifold on its own.

The rest for the Efi conversion is easy to get in South Africa, ecu either Dicktator or Splitronics.

The one I bought, was in Ohio in the USA.
I bought it through E-Bay. According to the EBay add, the didn't export to countries outside the US.
He wanted $150. I offered him $100 which he accepted.
Through guys in Bellville who imports from the US, it was landed for R1600 (All import costs)

Louis it has been a while since I have looked for EFI parts as I have put the KZTE in but one of my friends was a engine importer and I have a costumer that also imports. They sometimes import tsunami containers and containers from the UK that are a lucky dip when you open the container. My mate used to fly over and hand pick the motors needed for stock which I suspect that most would not import the 22Re but I have come across the 4Y fuel injection and still have one on the shelf.

The 4Y Efi's are easy to get, I also have I think 2 one available.

But the 22RE Efi's are rarely imported into SA by the inporters.

Why not laser a flange and have it alu welded? Add a throttle body and fuel rail from one of the speed and sound adds and you are sorted.. Should be less expensive than an import..
