There should be a topic about this somewhere on the forum.

Not rock science just make sure whete the pins go before you disassemble. And you want to be able to turn the hubs by hand before you apply the hand brake. But why bother the rear brakes on a hilux are useless

Agreed, bakkies in general do not brake much at the rear. Only once you have a load on the back, do they really start doing much. This all has to do with your load sensor in the back.

I asked the Powerbrake guys about this awhile back.
They recommended not to do it.

There are a few clips on youtube from different manufactures given very valid reasons why they still fit drums to the back of a bakkie. My point of view it's not actually worth it.
I also looked into it, apparently the Subaru rear disks fit the IFS with very little mods, but at an 18K price tag, and that's only for parts, I did not bother looking further.

Works great if you do it correctly.
Just make sure you use the correct calipers.
The Surf we once had, had a disc conversion. Brakes were great but the handbrake always was a big problem.
It had Audi A4/ Golf calipers. But the Surf's cable setup is different from the Hilux's so maybe them calipers work better on a Hilux.

Brakes is the easy part, handbrake is the problem.

There is some forum member in Koedoespoort in Pretoria who once advertised that he does it.

Thank you all for the input, my hilux is fitted with a Lexus motor and i feel that i need more braking power. I also recon that when the vehicle is in park with a auto gearbox, who needs a handbrake?

Hi George

My biggest issue with the rear drums on my SFA is that they only work 20% of the time ,everytime after do a trail i have to open the drums to clean them ,i do not think the handbrake was made to work , was only installed by Toyota to pass roadworthy test ,stops working 50km later
that why i would like to fit disc brakes and also replace LSV with someelse
