From the shoes of Simoan

Post by SYRON CONVERSIONS »

Future project maybe, the chassis has already been shortened, the cab is a very sought after item as well to keep.

Image

Another project that has halted, we have already spent over
R120 000. on this project, this truck is a 1994 model, we have a 7MGE gebuine combo engine and auto box as well as the full computor system fitted, we spent R10 000. to overhaul the auto box, The vehicle originally cost R35 000. to buy, it was a runner and it is still registered.
R40 000. was spent on the five Mickey Thompson baja claw 35" x 1550 x 15" tyres and Mickey Thompson Classic 2 rims.
Then metal was purchased for the rear of the vehicle R5 000.
Front and rear ARB Lockers with ceramic coated crownwheel and pinions already fitted to other pumpkins, ready for installation.
Marlin Crawler kit also already fitted tot eh transfer case.
Cardan joint propshaft fitted to the rear of the vehicle.

Going to still buy Longfield heavy duty side shafts front and rear as well as a few other items when we continue with this project, but it will be an awesome vehicle to drive, it will have a full ouside roll cage as well. Which can be removed if desired,
 Don't laught your daughter might be driving it as well

Simoan, I saw that double cab when I joined the forum and it was the inspiration for my UberLux project. I think it's awesome and wish you guys would get going on it again.

Ronny (my Godfather) said that there is lots of time, however on the 28th of Feb this month, it will be one year since I had my back op and that coil spring put in between the two vertebre', thus maybe he is just giving me time, but I am ready to start back on this project, I want to put it in the workshop on the two poster, then it can be lifted and I can sort out the oil cooler for the gearbox and do the diffs. when I stripped my front diff on my Hilux, it was stripped completely down, only the bare housing was attached to the front springs ( maybe you remember that lead front locker that was fitted to the Hilux by the previous idiot, well there was lead filings all over the place inside, in every little crevice and I wanted to make sure that I removed it all before the fitment of the ARB locker, but I also had to fit a new match set crownwheel and pinion as well.

However Ronny is a very busy man as well, he retired when he was 26 years old, this is what he told me, each day he does not even have enough time to do his things, but we must always remember that we all have our different ways.

As soon as we start I will inform you with some pic's.

" Moving the front axle foreward, well maybe it can be done, but I would rather prefer a high angle front diff instead, maybe a nice set of Uni-mog or Volvo 404 axles would be better instead, their reduction hub set up on each wheel would give you altimate clearence and more low down torque. 8 ) 8 )
