Rear seat belt dilemma

Post by DOELLOOS »

Hi Guys,

I have just bought a 1994 Hilux DC as a toy. My problem is that it did not originally come with rear seat belts. Does anyone know where or how I can have rear seat belts fitted?

I know a colleague of mine fitted the rear safety belts and he got his from the agents. He commented that if was fairly easy to fit them as the bakkies have the holes..... already - just not the belts. I will ask him when I see him tomorrow. No idea where in JHB you can have it fitted.

Had the same problem on my '90 DC. Used the seatbelts from a old Nissan 1400. They fitted perfectly. Holes for bolts on Hilux already there. Only had to drill two holes for the guide pins which prevent the top hanger from turning around. Try finding some at a scrap yard and fit them yourself.....easy peasy.

Just went & checked mine, it has rear seat belts fitted as well, presumably standard on the imported ones? 1987 DC.

As far as I know most Toy products like Corolla, camry, cresida, Hilux would fit. But be careful to buy at scrap yard. The seat belt unit have a device in it with a little ball. Once the vehicle was in a severe accident that little ball jam the whole thing and you cannot use it again. So if possible test it before you buy it.

Just to go back on topic for a second.. :D
I bought my set of rear safety belts from Taitsaam Spares in Despatch for R250-00. Fitment was easy. Just remember the fine threaded bolts you need to mount them. Phone number:

Thanks for the advice, I will check if the holes are there. Are we talking shoulder seat belts? Thanks for the advice Piet, but I plan on buying new ones anyway, as it is for the precious little ones.
