NO kidding,,,,, the officers story... made to eat your ears??? cooking up your kids??? oh my word.. that really bothered me... that the troops.. or any one could do some thing like that....................................... and think that it is ok... that really scared me...

I don't ever want to do more then read about things like that in my life.... how horrible!!!

that is why I had to ask if it is really like that..

look at the maps.. we are all connected here. maybe 3500 miles coast to coast... is that really happening over there?? if so, how far way from you guys?

sorry but here in the middle of the usa every thing else seems very far way....

that story I posted up only sounds like it is around 1000 miles away from you guys.

I hope that you are safe from these things.

OH,, thank you for the translation.. I still think that it is really cool that you guys are on the other side of this world we live on and here we are talking back and forth... this internet thing... face book.. (wish that I thought of it))) is really neat... If I had that much money I would come over and meet you guys!!!

so I just did the km to miles.. that is 2000 miles... so for me that would be happening in flordia... from south dakota.

are these things really happening or is it just the internet stories???

sure sounded like they were telling the story of thier trip.

I would love to read that care takers diary

Geez Mark, really good read!!
Totally enjoyed it.
Well, if you could picture 2000miles of that rough terrain, it would be more like 4000miles to cover, before they would reach us in RSA!

Many of the older folks on die forum will tell you just as desturbing stories from the days gone past in Angola. Its much beter now, and many Saffers ar travelling that way now. Corruption is part of everyday life though. Its sad but its true. In SA we also have our problems, not sure how much we are alowed to say on the forum, when it comes to our farm murders. Anyhow, I life way up North, about 30miles from the Namibian border. Wild Africa is right on my doorstep! :dance1: Time to explore!!

Mark, this is unfortunately very true. I was in the army in the mid 80's and one village we went through the chief had his ears cut off and his wife had to eat them and their daughters were raped. I was not nice, we did catch the troop that did it but I wont go into what we did to them. A lot of the guys lost their compassion for many years after the Angola war, I know it took me almost 10 years to start feeling I cared about people again. At that time I became like a stone and nothing shocked me and I did not care much about human life after seeing what these people did to their own people.

wow... this all seems to have taken a sharp turn for the worst.

I sure did not mean to offend anyone. just trying to share from the other side of the world.

if you don't like this thread please just post some where else.

other then the last few posts I have really enjoyed sharing and learning.

of course being from the USA I can not read what was said, but I gather that it is not positive.

OK, I will not take any offence.. I just can not read most of that. what little I can try to read in english was not sounding all that good.. I will keep posting from my area. I just want to learn and share our wheeling trips.
that wheeling trip.. I need a chicken.. your world is so different from mine. I want to learn and share.

I would love to come down and go wheeling.. but I sure don't want to go to the wrong area and be made to eat my wifes ears!!! that story really made your area of the world seem very scarey...

yes, those people have some big balls.. there are many points that I would have shot some one.. but also that sounds like a no win... so lets get back to wheeling and new born babies.. and the fun of wheeling.

I am very sorry for you to have seen these things. one part of me want's to hear your whole story. the other part of me want's to not think that a man can do these things to anouther man or woman.

I have complet and total respect for those that work in the military to defend the rights of those that can not defend them selves.

I wish that things were like the bible says.. and when some thing horrible was about to happen a higher power would step in and stop it, punish those that are wrong right then and there. thank you for trying to defend the innocent.

That would have been nice if possible. The worst of it all was we were forced to go to the army for 2 years or else go to jail.

Hi Mark .... good to hear from you again. Hope you and yours are all well, and yes, it would be awesome to be able to hook up .... would love to do a trail through the Black Hills with you and your mates!

Yeah, it's sad but greed is in the nature of man .... whether it's greed for power, wealth, land, whatever ... it's the cause of most conflict, and conflict on a mass scale (wars) have been fought over many centuries throughout the world. Generally there is an underlying sense of fair play .... some practises are acceptable while others are not. (The Geneva Convention post WW2 formalised a lot of these.) Africa however, marches to the beat of a different, more primitive drummer .... barbarism and savagery still exist, wholesale!

As Mark (Gunta) said, we were forced into the military, there was no choice, all white males were conscripted into the South African Defence Force. Most of us that saw active service witnessed / experienced some incidents that cried out against the value system of our "western" upbringing. One had to harden one's heart to survive and escape insanity, losing some of one's humanity along the way. Each one dealt with it in his own way.

When it was all over some recovered / bounced back quicker than others, while some remained 'damaged goods', unable to come to terms with their experiences .... some of those scars run deep.

But hey, I'd like to believe that I'm a better person for it ... much like realising the real value of something only after it has been taken away or denied to you, and then appreciating it much more when you get it back.

We are what we are .... a product of our doctrines, experiences and our individuality ....and in our case, by and large, I think we're still a fairly decent bunch despite it all. :D:

Take care.

It was pretty funny, He would hand me the leatherman tool every time I put in a screw. Then want it back so he could beat on things. he really seemed to be watching and trying to help.

Each time after I put a part on, he would grab and shake it like he was testing to see if I did it right.

don't think he is ready to learn welding yet!!!

radiation
stem cell replacement
jacob was supposed to be impossible.
now baby girl on the way.
her doctors don't know what to think.
she is the second women to conceive after thousands that have had this procedure.
now twice?? the doctors are very confused as to how this is happening.
we ran all the test there were to run on jacob.. he is fine.
we ran all the tests there is to run on baby girl and so far she is fine.
they do not know how this is possible... heck.. we only tried 3 times for baby girl... I thought It would be the same chances as with jacob.. impossible... but here she is on the way!!
