Reverse turbo mod

I want to remove the turbo on my 2.8d. The previous owner for some reason decided to fit one. Anyway I have recently overhauled the engine after dropping an exhaust valve so want to remove it before I do any damage. Any thoughts? I believe the compression ratio does not get changed when doing a bolt on mod like this, but I would need to change the exhaust manifold and have the diesel pump adjusted. Is there anything else I would need to do? And please where can I get a secondhand exhaust manifold? (JHB area) N1 4x4 does not have and SAC wants R1300 for a new one.
