Hi Nico

Try Gemini Parts out in Johannesburg, Kruis Str, unfortunately I do not have their tel number, but they import genuine Toyota parts at a fraction of the cost compared to the stealers. If you come right I may be in a position to get it for you. My number 082 601-1540/076 315-7754.

Regards.

If you don't come right at Gemini then you can give Anropa a call.
They will make a new cable to match the old one if they don't have a standard one.

Have you tried cableman in Pretoria? They can make you one if the do not have and they use the fittings from places like anropa, etc.

You can buy the cable at Midas for about R40 or let someone like Cableman make one up for you from the existing fittings about R110 last I bought. I have been through his excercise about 3 times and my experience was that the Midas and Cableman cables works but the needle jumps. Doesn't matter how you route it or how nice the bends are it got better and worse but never 100%. I think I still have 2 Cableman cables and 2 Autoquip (Midas) cables in the garage, one for the 2.7 and one from a 2.2 that I tried.

Just for interest sake the 2.2 Hilux's cable also works on the 2.7 it is just slightly longer (about 30cm if I remember correctly) but the fittings are the same.

After this I can now change the speedo cable in the dark without disassembling the dash, having done this two weeks in a row every night.

I ended up buying the real thing in the end and all is well now.
