Seeing that i own a tuning workshop, and do this on a daily basis........... i have decided to turbo charge my newly acquired Lux...
I don't want peak HP as u all most probably now think, but rather want to focus on low to midrange torque (just what these little gems need!)
I have been doing some research the last few weeks, and have decided to do a direct bolt on kit for now on the std motor.

Kit pieces will include:
. T3/T4 AR50(cold) AR63(hot) stg 5 wheel
. Custom made exhaust manifold
. Turbonetics wastegate and recirculating dump valve.
. Custom made exhaust system
. Bosch injectors
. 2Jz map sensor
. Uni-Q+ chip & boost module Retains factory ecu for A/C, idle control, knock control, wasted spark etc
. Walbro 255 fuel pump
. Front mount intercooler
. SS boost piping
. Sealed cold air induction.

Gear ratio's seem to be spot on with the 31's as well.... but will have to see if the clutch will hold. :problem:
Boost pressure at 0.5 bar should nett a power figure around 150kw/380nm (odd) at the wheels on the std internal motor.
Speccing the turbo kit to be on boost around 2000rpm already!

(n lug kompressor is n goeie voorbeeld).

Sterkte met jou turbo conversion, glo jy sal n lekker setup he,

Jake

Haal dit net af as jy jou hilux wil verkoop of nie...
Complete Installation.jpg
Alles is aanmekaar en reg ve dyno,
Vacuum hose setup.jpg
Inlet & Outlet of intercooler piping.jpg
Die pype tussen die turbo - intercooler - intake manifold is deur rynard by scorch gebou, dit was 2500'00 gewees, nice job, very well done
exhaust Manifold.jpg
t3-t4 turbo,S-Trim,stage 1 shaft,.48 exhaust.jpg

Llewellyn, those are excellent figures for 3RZ turbo! You're still some way from a std gen 1 Lexus V8 though...
In its standard, original trim with 10:1 compression, power output is 191 kW (256 hp), torque of 353 N·m (260 lb·ft).[1]
That's the 1989 spec, since then gen 2 and 3+ have pushed the power up to 216 kW (290 hp) and 407 N·m, and way over...

Other problem is you can't get the same V8 exhaust symphony! You are 100% correct though, for 15K it's an excellent mod, when compared to the V8's 50K+ conversion costs. I'm just not persuaded that a petrol turbo is best for an offroad vehicle, platkay yes, 4x4 maybe not...

No that sound is non replacible from the V8. Must say that the turbo blow out the exhaust is also very impresive. In my previous SFA hilux i had an 3sgte 2.0L engine. It was perfect for 4x4 but had to let it go when financial level got tight.I get 280nm at 2500 rpm and 80kw,at 4000 i get 323nm & 140kw wich is more or les what i wanted towing my boat.
I was going to do an V8 but spoke to guys in our region about conversion and none of them actually claimed 180KW on the dyno around here, and also the deappreciation on the vechile is too much. I am very happy with this as when i came back from matroosberg on Sunday i hooked up with an 3.0D4D and V6 Fortuner that got left behind. Nevertheless i will still comment if my engine is going to hold all the pressure on 220k.....
I'll be posting if something goes wrong as i have only travelled 1250kms(Hard) now.
Cheers
