Kzte upgrades

Post by hilux03 »

So i finally got a 2004 kzte. It feels way better than the 2.8 3l. I've had it for 6mts now and no problems.
I've heard about installing a chip, intercooler and exhaust upgrades. I would like to install a chip to get a little more power.

Which chip do you guys recommend? Does the chip have to be programmed according to other mods? Is there a better air filter or complete intake system for the kzte? Should the complete exhaust be replaced or just the dump pipe?

Sorry for all the questions, i just want to get it right.

Paul.

Hi Paul

1.I just installed an intercooler,chip and freeflow on my KZ after owning her for almost 3 years. http://hilux4x4.co.za/views/viewtopic.p ... 7&start=30" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I can really tel you that for me it was worth every cent. :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup:

2.In my opinion , don't touch the air filter . If you want to do something, install a snorkel, it wont do anything for performance but it will keep a lot of dust out of the air filter box.

3.If you only do the chip and inter cooler first, then "yes" you'll have to reprogram the chip when you fit a free flow.

hi Paul,

First thing to do is get rid of the silencer in the exhaust system - it just sucks the power.

Second, get a nice, big exhaust(atleatse 63mm) installed.

Then the airbox mod and snorkel.

Now you will be ready for a intercooler and chip!
