Battery monitoring

Post by Eyeman »

I want to monitor the charging and voltage of my main battery.
What is the best way to do this?

Thanks

Grant

Grant I put in the National Luna battery monitor, you can get it for a single or 2 batteries, you can switch of the LED if you want and it also has an alarm on under/over voltage

Voltmeter is easy to install. Just connect in parallel to your device. An ammeter is a bit of a problem. You either have to connect it in serie or you have to make use of a shunt.

Strictly speaking don't think you need an ammeter as you can always calculate the current if you have the ratings of the devices.

I personally don't like the natianal luna or any other volt meters that show you the voltage by means of LED's. I prefer a digital or even analogue read out so I have the exact voltage.
