Hi Guys,
I am new to the forum, although I have previously browsed through posts many times before.
I own a silver DC 4x4 KZTE, which is kitted with winch, front and rear two bars. The vehicle is in mint condition, a 2001 model, which has the pre facelift front (small lights). I was wondering if anyone out there attempted this body upgrade. Is it worth the trouble, is it difficult and expensive? All responses will be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Hilux DC KZTE facelift upgrade
Hi Jonathan,
Firstly welcome to rhe club.
I also own a 2001 kzte dc, and have done the same enquiries as yourself, some time ago. I spoke to Cris Ingram at R & D Offroad, who did such a conversion.
He said that it is quite involved, as it would mean that the following would have to be replaced:
both front fenders, plus 2 side repeaters for indicators
Bonnet
Grille with new headlights
Radiator, as the shape is different
Front valance, raised in the middle, same shape as new radiator
New bumper and stifner, as shape is different to pre-bullnose
New nudge bar, shorter top to bottom than pre-bullnose
And if you want to do it propperly, a complete sticker set that matches the bullnose
He spoke in the reagion of around 25k then, if all are new genuine parts. Not sure what the cost would be now.
Hope this helps, as all that effort made me change my mind, and keep her stock.
For much less mney, i replaced both front indicators, that had yellowed over time, and some of the stickers that had seen better days, and she is good as new!

Re: Hilux DC KZTE facelift upgrade
Hi Theunis,
Thanks for the welcome and feedback.
For R25k I will also give it a miss. Pirate body parts may be an option, but as mine is accident free, with all original genuine body parts, I would hate to remove these and fit Taiwanese spares just for looks.
I have unfortunately not yet done any decent 4x4 tracks, therefore no pics yet. Hoping to start a collection soon.
