2.7 & Kzte Hilux - mod to enable difflock in 2wd & 4H

Not sure if this has been posted here, but here it is again! Nice Mod this!

On the previous 2.7 and KZTE Hilux's you can only engage the difflock in 4L, this mod allows you to engage the locker in 2wd, 4H & 4L.

Look for the 4wd computer in the right hand side drivers kick panel.

The connector looks something like this:



Cut the blue and red wire on pin 8 (In the image it is grey wire) 10-20cm from the connector going the the 4wd computer, crimp or solder a lug on to the wire and earth the wire going to the computer. (I soldered in a piece of wire long enough to get to a decent earth) The difllock will now engage in 2WD, 4H & 4L. The ABS is also switched off with the difflock on.

On some of the earlier models the wire was grey and if you search on the internet it is called the "Grey wire mod" but on ours it is blue and red.

Engage difflock and enjoy !

who can tell me , does my hilux have front and rear difflock?

Bruce, it came standard with a rear difflock, so yoursa will definitely have it. A front difflock would be an aftermarket fitment and not a lot of people do it, so I doubt it if yours would have, but check if there is an aftermarket difflock switch on your dash or a pipe running from your front diff (not the breather!).
