Hi Guys
Just wanted to find out. Do you guys think it is possible if i fit a automatic bocx to my single cab Hilux. What do i need to make this happen. Also do you think there is alot extra mods that need to take place or will it almost be like plug and play. My manual gearbox is packing up very quickly now and i need to make a plan. Do you guys think its possible.
Thanks in advance

Duncan, is your current box 4x4 or 2x4?

Duncan, not sure of the conversion implications, but why not look for a 2nd hand box.
By the way what is the price on a new one? Manual that is!
I know my BIL had his 2x4 converted to 4x4 manual and still has the 2x4 box, last time aI spoke to him he wanted R8k for a box with about 20 - 30 000kms on!
Not sure if he has it. can send you his details if you wish?

Mark iam not sure about the the price of a new box but a second hand boxes go for anything from R6000-00 to about R10000-00. I would appreciate it if you could give me his details so that i can contact him. i will also have talk to him about the conversion he had done. I dont think this is a cost effective excercise. The transmission also has an ecu. So you would need the associated wiring as well. To give you an idea: the diff lock ecu is about R1200 on its own (just priced last week from Toyota) and if thats anything to go by you are in for some $$$ even if its second stuff from a breakers yard. Stick with the manual.....

Hi Duncan,
If you could let us know what costs are involved once you have them, i've also been thinking of perhaps changing my 4x4 manual to an auto - no burnt out clutches on trips etc!
Thanks Stan
