Fitting 10J rims on my double cab 2009. Please help me...
Hi guys,
I have a 2009 double cab and am struggling to fit a 10J rim on as the break caliper is to big for and touches the rim. It's a 10j rim that I love and really want on the bukkie.
What can I do to so they fit?
Spacers? If so how big?
Get a different 10j rim? If so where as no one seems to have...
Any other options? It's urgent as need to sort this out first thing Monday.
Thanks
Dave 0827822418

If you like the style of the rims see if they are available with more of an offset. The more negative the offset, the more they will stand out away from the caliper.
Post pics of the rims. I'm looking for 10j rims for my SFA & might take those off you if they fit. I need about a -49 offset to clear my tie rod.

Hi Dave,
Welcome to the forum
My guess is that it has nothing to do with the rim width, but rather the the diameter.
Did the 2009 come with 16" rims, and are the rims you fitting 15"...??
I do know that the 15" rims don't fit over the newer calipers, just not sure whether it's the same problem with the 2009 model.

The 2009 has larger callipers than the 2005 / 6 / 7 / 8 models.
An option if you do not want to get rid of the rims, is to find an older set at a scrapyard. There was a set for sale here on the forum for R1000.00, but have been sold :!:

Dave, I didn't think about the '09 having a 16" rim as standard. If you're now trying to get a 15" rim in there, no amount of spacers will work. You'll have to change the caliper as Roy says.
Post pics of the rims here or mms to 08two 9two6 08five1.

Is that my only option? If I do that wont it effect the break set up? Or mess with warranties
If I let go of those rims do u know any good dealers in CT that stock a variey of 10j rims that could potentially fit?
Thanks again

Don't mess with the brakes ..... you might have to change the discs as well and besides all the hassle it's a safety issue. Get the correct rims (16").

I agree with Andy. Braking performance is the one thing you don't want to mess with. The rim must be available in 16". Have a look at A-line's website.

Am I correct in saying that if I get a 10j rim 16" that it will fit if there's a spacer in?

The 16" rim will clear the caliper & depending on the offset of the rim, you might not even need a spacer.
Send those pics Dave. I might take the 15's off your hands.

Just a question, what size tyres do you intend using with the 10" rims?David sarembock wrote:Hi guys,

Just because it says "4WD" doesn't make it an off-road vehicle.

Even with 16'' rims of 10J you will have fun fitting it ....
The calipers sits "further out" than on most other vehicles. Even the standard white epoxy rims dont fit any more, unlees you start grinding the caliper ..... In fact very few rims now fit the late model Vigos ....

Re: Fitting 10J rims on my double cab 2009. Please help me..
Remember that on a 10J rim the smallest tyre you can fit is a 285 tyre, depending on the profile this may be too tall for the standard suspension. For example 285/75/16 is the same as a 33" tyre. This is a very big tyre and I have them on my Cruiser with an after market suspension. If you are fitting 15" rims you may still find the tyre being too tall unless you choose low profile street/road tyres in which case you will be ok.
Just because it says "4WD" doesn't make it an off-road vehicle.

Re: Fitting 10J rims on my double cab 2009. Please help me..
Basically I tried to fit the 10" rims but I need spacer made upmandnit is becoming quite an issue... So what I've done is sourced a 9" rim from jhb with a big enough negative offset that should fit. I am then going to try put on the biggest tyre I can fit on either a 31' 32' or 33'.
I do have an emu suspension and no extras on the car so it does sit quite high already. 4x4 megaworld said they can cut away ever so slightly on the wheel arch if I really want to go BIG..
So essentially I have had to scrapmthen10j rim idea as I can't find any in SA that will fit...
What u guys think?
Cheers
