32" or 33" x 15 for vigo???

Post by claude munnik »

Iam running standard rim and 31"A/T tyres on my 2008 d4d with 50 mm lift. Tyres looks extremely small. What is adviseable size 32's or 33's to replace it with?

I'm also wondering about this.

I've read on the Australian websites that a 32x11.5 on the standard rim will work well, but the front mudguards are in the way and have to be removed.

On the 33" they say that you can feel the loss in power and you will need to do a body lift.

There is a Aussie on Rock Solid Toys forum running 35's on his D4D Vigo, without doing a Soild Axle Swap.

Claude, I have also been mulling over this idea for some time now.

I am yet to find a pre 2008 facelift D4d running on 32" tyres. I have seen some of the 4.0 V6's running them. I am not a technical person, but I am sure I have read somewhere that going to 32" on the diesel engine may adversely affect the engine. Something to do with the intake and outlet systems. Can anyone more technical shed some light on this?

Howzit,
I have just put 32x11.5 x15s on my 4LV6, had to do a 50mm body lift and 20mm suspension lift, still had to cut a bit.
Having a problem with power and fuel issues at the moment, still investigating.

Gysie runs 32"s on his Vigo. I spoke to Hoppy for long about D4D on 33"s, and he said the lack of power on 33"s on a Vigo with Auto box is very noticable, and there's not much you can do about it besides changing the diff's.

The 265/70x16's on My 2010 Vigo are almost at 32" so the older Vigo's should handle 32/11.5x15's okay...

33"s can go on a Vigo but you need to create clearance for it..

I have 265/75R16 Maxxis muds on my Fortuner & had to do serious trimming to fit them and they still rub on the inside even after I've removed my mudflaps when the front is flexing

Personally I wont go bigger on the Vigo/Fortuner

Thx guys for all the input. Seems i will either go max 32" or stay with standard 31":::(((. Was hoping to go bigger as my tyres at this moment look like 13" rims on my bakkie. Lol.
Gona try my friends 32" on mags, only issue it comes from colt bakkie and not sure of the offset.

But will try and keep u posted, only crap i can only check in 2 weeks as my friend is out of town.

I have 33x12.5/15 on my V6. Did a 100MM body lift with 50mm suspension lift and still had clearance issues. Roadnoise is a killer so my next choice is either freeflow or better sound system. :laugh2:
