Cat's removed - before & after

Post by Mylux »

So today she went in for a transplant at TNT Performance Exhausts in Knights, Germiston. Four old cats out, two mini cats in.
A bid thanks to Tom and his crew for a great job.   They come highly recommended 011 822 1772
At the same time got that irritating 4.0L V6 exhaust bend sorted out. No more exhaust bashing!

Need to go back next week to have the rear silencer sorted out. Now that the exhaust gasses are flowing better there seems to be a vibration coming from the rear silencer. Freeflow here we come!

Anyone had this problem before after removing cats?

Thanks Ernst & Tau! At the moment I'm smiling like a kid in a candy store!
There is a noticeable difference in pedal response. So much so that I haven't bothered checking any improvement in fuel consumption. I'm too busy playing with those extra horses!
Going back to TNT on Thursday to have the rear silencer replaced..... freeflow here we come!

I did something similar & was rewarded with a better consumption at a higher speed.

I removed all the cats and did't replace them with mini cats. Throttle response is better but it has a "snarl" sound where I was hoping for more of a "growl" sound?
Please let us know what it sounds like with the free-flow fitted.

Hi Greg and what was the cost of those mini cats?

Hi Carlo & Quentin,
sorry for the late reply!
Carlo - after fitting the freeflow silencer, she has a lekker deep growl, especially when you stand on the pedal! Cruising between 100 - 120km/h you hardly hear the exhaust unless you floor it to overtake and she kicks over to 4th gear.

Quentin - I paid around R800 to have all four cats removed, two mini cats fitted and the bend in the pipe sorted out.
TNT Performance Exhausts in Germiston did the work for me.
The freeflow box was done for round R900.
Cheers
Greg

Hi Greg Now that you had time to play with your new modifications, did you see any improvements on your consumption? How many km do you get pet L?

Took my Toy in to KSD for exhaust removal and got a De Graaf fitted.
Had her put on dino and was quite surprised!

With chip and exhuast, she puts out a whopping 468nm Torque!
Quite pleased with this.
The outdoors is a place for Adventures. So, lets pack and head out for a great new Adventure.
