2011 Legend got a sound upgrade.
I don’t know about you guys but I believe that the sound system in the Vigo is terrible (As most standard sound systems are)
Seeing as though we spend so much time in the vehicle travelling etc, I decided to upgrade my Sound system. I have had sound systems in my previous vehicles and it just makes the world of difference for driving experience. Plus I am just a sucker for anything AV!
So – Off to Sounds Limited in Boksburg I went.
Here are the components I used for the system:
Head Unit: Sony WX-GT90BT (Bluetooth, Ipod, USB, mp3, Bleh Blah) Double Din
Amplifier: Alpine 4Ch PMX-F640 (640wx4) mounted under passenger front seat.
Front Components: Pioneer 6” TS-A1605C 350w Split system
Rear Components: Pioneer 6” TS-G1644R 250w Coaxles
Subwoofer: Pioneer 12” TS-SW301 1000W Loaded in a narrow but long enclosure behind rear seats
Steering wheel Interface module Plug and Play.
Dynamat on the front doors.
I rocked up there with no appointment (I can be bad like that sometimes ;) ) and they immediately were able to accommodate me. Started the job at 10:00 after negotiations on price (they are highly negotiable against their web based price.) and I was outta there at 16:30.
The sound is awesome in the cab now. That shallow sub is perfect for this application! Now another excuse to burn some diesel!
Prices I got around the northern suburbs for a similar system were around R14-16K, with these guys it was just shy of R9k incl install! That’s what I call a saving!!

Some pics. It was scary watching them effortlessly rip apart the cab...

Are the values you gave RMS values? Personally I do not like mixing the sub and mids on one amp, purely because of different frequencies and the fact that the sub draws more current (which translates into heat), which a normal amp won't be able to push for long periods of times, hence there's monoblocks. Electronics don't like heat.

Hi donkey, I would imagine theyre in Rms. Alot of guys run it this way, even my old Rockford punch system was wired the same. If/when I upgrade to a dual sub I'll add in a mono amp for it and just run F&R components off the Alpine.

Thanks man, so far it's awesome. But that running-in period of the speakers is painstaking.

Howdy Shimano,
The interior looks exactly the same bar 2 things. The radio has changed, and there are now tweeters in the front door black plastic thing. I'll happily take pics. I myself cannot reach the subwoofer to even take a pic without having to rip the back seats out :) will take tonight and post tomorrow ;)
