Good day guys,
I'm taking my Hilux to SAC tomorrow to install a Madman EMS 2 EGT monitor with all the extra sensors.
My concern is how they will be drilling and tapering the hole in the manifold before the turbo intake.
I have read a couple of similar threads, one guy mentioned they do not remove the manifold when drilling which can be problematic.
Others say let the engine idle whilst doing the work.
Guy's I need some assurance, are there many of these systems installed, and chances are slim to none that my Hilux will suffer from this procedure?
Is taking the long route of removing manifold plausible, or will the installers refuse and just drill on the attached manifold?
Just some input from the happy travelers who have undertaken this procedure would be appreciated...

I have also heard that the drilling without the manifold removed causes the shaving to bugger up the turbo bearings... Better enquire from them to be safe...

Re: Installing Madman, EGT sensor on Manifold
Although I have considered doing this I have not yet done this, so cannot comment...
Why I would like it done is because I can sometimes drive a whole day.
This is normally at slow speads, but would like the assurance from the sensors that nothing is getting hotter than it should be getting.
I will be very interested in what is done, what sensors are fitted and the costs involved...
Thanking you in anticipation. Edge.

Have been keeping my eye's open for one of these, very handy monitor, just better assurance and peace of mind everything is running as it should.
Haven't found a toyota spec on the operating limits on the EGT, that would come in handy...

So, got the EGT sensor installed,
Also installed a 5 map selector switch for the Unichip,
5 Different maps, though one is used for Immobilizer of Anti-theft.
Very interesting to see the different max temps.
Standard Toyo map sees Max temps just below 600 C.
Main map with 15% extra power sees temps between 600-640 C.
Max power sees Max temps not over 650 C.
This is with the 76 mm stainless free flow.
Did some towing of a heavy boat over the weekend, the chip has a map dedicated for towing, again, never say temps rising above 650 C, speed between 110 and 130 km/h. Not going to speed with a heavy tow, would be ridiculous...
