Recommendations for Long Range tank ?

Post by Mauro »

Hi
I'm looking at fitting a good quality long range tank on my V6 double cab.
I see there are 65L and 61.5L, are there larger tanks and who fits them?
Any first hand experience and recommendations would be welcome, thanks!

Unfortunately I cannot comment on the sizes available for your bakkie. I have a 45L (I think) LR tank fitted to my vehicle and what a joy not to fill up so often but  at the price "when" filing up

Hi Mauro,

Usually we keep the 65l Exel S/S tanks, it is installed under the sparewheel and it does not influence your departure angle or ground clearance.(It should be the same as the 61l) The tank get filled normally through your normal filler(it split just under to the main tank and Aux tank). Then it gravity feed into the main tank again.

Sometimes if people want a bigger tank and they are willing one can fit up to a 150l loadbin tank at the rear of the loadbin.

The pricing as follows;
1. 65l Aux Tank = R3540 incl. vat &fitment
2. Load bin tank s/s = R 4483 incl. vat & fitment

I hope it helps,

Louis

When I bought Bulldog, it already had a LR tank fitted. According to the Seller, total capacity is in the order of 145 litres. I usually go for a fill-up when the petrol gauge reaches the 3/4 mark, and it takes about 85 litres of fuel under those conditions.

It's currently standing about 1/4 full on the fuel gauge now, as I was waiting for the decrease in petrol price to take effect. Upon my return from Durbs, I will fill up again and watch my wallet grow progressively lighter, because this time it will be a minimum of 125 litres as I recall from past experience.

Thank you Guys very much for the feedback, yes I would think the refuelling "occasion" is the problem but I think it will be well worth it on the long trips, it may allow me to plan better and reduce the sweat on the brow for the stretches where there are no fuel stations. and kids hollering from the back seat saying: I TOLD YOU SO!

Louis, maybe I should consider the 65 litre, price sounds reasonable, can I pop in there on tuesday next week...do you need to order or do you have stock?

Hi Mauro,

If I place the order Today I will have it Tuesday afternoon by 1:30pm. We could fit it the same day or otherwise 1st thing Wednesday morning. Please ensure your bakkie's tank level to be 1/4 or less.

Please let me know.

Best Regards,
Louis

I had my long range tank fitted by Gerbers in Pomona, it was the biggest second tank I could find and gives me 160 litres in total, but mine is the IFS, not sure how big a tank they do for the Vigo.

EDIT- didn't see the thread was 4 years old!!!!! Feel free to ignore
