Aftermarket bumper

Post by Jurgen10 »

So, I am planning to fit an aftermarket bumper after a minor altercation in traffic, but don't want to drive down hill the whole time...

Who has fitted an aftermarket bumper, and were you then also compelled to fit spacers to lift the nose because of the extra weight (Without a winch)

Are the standard front coils on a vigo stiff enough to carry the additional load?

I had an ARB on a previous vehicle, but it had torsion bars which we then adjusted to raise the nose.

Hi Jurgen. The coils springs will be able to handle the extra weight (depending on what bumper you fit) but it will pull the nose down. Fitting spacers will be better. Doing a suspension upgrade will be the best thing to do.

I fitted a Iron bullbar and had to lift the nose of the vigo again, just the spacers did not do the job. 4x4 Direct orderd some coil spings from Mikem and togeter with the spacers, whala. Best investment ever

Nothing!!! Just driving down the road, went through a dip in the road and the suspension went down and didn't come up! This caused by installing strut spacers! They allow the strut to bottom out before the lca contacts bump stop causing the shock to bend or snap!

Shock to bend like that because of the spring was under pressure(spring was compressed too much), look like 50mm spacers. That would give a lift of 100mm. Also cause side shaft angles to be out.

If you fit spacers nothing more than 25mm.

They r 30mm spacers. No matter what size you gamble with putting in ya playing with fire. Only safe way to use then is to extend your bump stops accordingly.

Fitted the BZT on friday.

Thank you Bruce, I must say fitting the bumper at the factory, you can see the amount of work going into their products. Next on the wishlist is a set of BZT rocksliders.

Die versekering het betaal :P

Die pryse het die 1ste oktober op gegaan.

Gaan loer gerus op http://www.summit4x4.co.za" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; hulle pryse is baie goed vir wat mens kry in my opinie.
