Max Lift on 2005 " New" Hilux

Post by Ou Bloues »

Just want some advice from the guys that already modified their Hilux

I already lift the front by 40mm, but another 30mm will be great.

What is the max lift you can get out of the front before the angels will become a problem and more modifications will be needed. Some people say from standard you can go 80mm, but this can have ride comfort problems onroad.

If you lift the back 30 mm and the front 80 mm from standard, the front is stil 40mm lower than the back, leveling this will leave you with no wheel travel in front at all, as you only have 120 mm of wheel travel in total.

Hear from you guys, I went for Bilstein shocks, which can give lift without coils

Shocks dont lift your vehicle, but you do get a 100mm lift kit.

The beilstein shocks is not doing the lifting, The Beilstein have the option to lift the coil spring higher up on the shock, like the Camil system that you can turn to get the spring higher.

Will the 100mm lift not give you a very hard ride ?

I will see Darell from Mikhem somewhere next week to see what we can do for best option, will let you know, but I think 60-80 mm is the best if you dont want to lose ride quality as well

Cassie, I think if you lift it that much then you hve to lower the subframe with the correct spacers...........Like the 2.7 that has 33's on........123 WEG MP.....

That is the only way i can think to lift those vehicle's that much without straining the cv's to much......

That is one of the reasons why I love my SFA so much!! :D:

Just some feedback, I lifted the front in Total with 85 mm and the back with with only 30mm, so the hilux is standing level and looking good. I stil have a soft ride " ok bit harder than the original" but a lot softer than some other bakkies I've taken for test drives, and all this for only R 13 000" Bilstein Shocks, Dobinson Coils in front, and for now only Superspring at the back, will put in proper springs when the ship comes to shore.

I got the Shoks from Mikem, the springs from N1 4x4 Pretoria, but I believe Mikem will be able to get as well, I just did not get time to go to JHB aggain, and needed it ASAP.

The super Spring I got from Centurion High Q, but if you google suspersprings, they will give you dealer close to you.

All the service at the above was great, If you need any Toyota Parts and some work done on the body, you should see N1 4x4, they are only Toyota specialists, I dont think even Toyota have the amount of spares they have, and good advice.

I will post pics later the week when I've down loaded it from the Camera, my son took some nice pics this weekend.

Hallo Aldo,

Here is a few pictures of the last "lift" job Allan did on a 2006 Hilux 4.0

He did the following:
50mm body lift,
50mm suspension lift (TJM suspension fitted)

The tyres are BFG Muds 32 X 11.5 X 16 with the new tread pattern. Because the BFG's are mounted on the original 7.5" Hilux rims, the circumference of the wheel is more than the circumference on Kaspaas' 33"s on 10" rims.

There is a nice looking Hilux running around in Pretoria North - Montana - Sinoville area, with a good lift - he is the same colour as my blue work horse - see pic. Does anyone know this guy. He also has a colour coded replacement front bumper - looks like eithet ARB or TJM

Hey Bloues

Gaan dit op so 60mm voor laat lig. Die shock adjustment sal my dan 30mm speeling gee. 15mm op of af. m.a.w.

Hey Aldo

Se my gou.

Maximum lift you should be running on your current shape hilux is 75mm over standard....3".

anymore than that is not usuable and will destroy your CV's......

Im running a full 3" and wouldnt recommend going higher than that...my inner cv rubber boots are almost touching sitting on level ground....I still get good travel both up and down...have measured 9.25" of travel in total.

if you want more than 3 inches, you have to look at a 4" drop bracket Snake Racing lift or similar or go for a bodylift.

at the end of the day, it depends on what you want to achieve and what you plan to use your hilux for.

I myself will be fitting a bodylift soon ontop of my suspension....how much is yet to be determined...a full 2inch bodylift will not achieve or benefit much other than looks as the bodymount is the limiting factor at the rear of the front guards when determining what the maximum tyre size will fit.

Im hoping to run 33.7x11.5x16 Simex Jungle Trekkers eventually, so a 30-35mm bodylift will be plenty.

hope that helps a little.

Dankie, die 32" werk baie goed, ek het so 2 weke terug my 3de stel opgesit.

I had the full IRONMAN suspension fitted and a 20mm leveling kit, the front lifted 80mm and the rear 50mm.
Now the Hilux is level.
