Hilux D4D - 305/60x18 Wheels Conversion

Post by ThysdJ »

Allan just completed a wheels conversion on a Hilux D4D DC. He fitted imported matt-black 18 inch alloy rims with 305/60x18 BFG KM2 Muds. In order for this to work he had to do the following:

Body Lift : 60mm
Suspension Lift Front : 40mm
Move the radiator, rear bumper, other goodies to allow for the body lift.
Modify the front bumper to allow for clearance when turning and articulating. This is must still go to the spray painters to finish off.

Here are some pictures: (Excuse the finger in the first pic)

You can see those tyres have a serious negative offset!

Wonder how that will affect handling and tyre life?

Still looks cool though.

I spoke to Allen 2 days ago and ordered a 50mm body lift from him. Should hopefully have it by tom. Then just gotta source the bolts and find an engineering company here in JHB that can weld an extension onto my steering rod...

Sorry to hijack this thread but does anyone know of a good place close the fourways/randburg that would be able to help me with this type of a weld?

Will send your spacers tomorow, i was out of action with the flu.

Anny general engineering company should be able to help you, in PTA i used to use a company called "Weld It"

i was really astonished by ur cool ride. The best hilux ever seen... It looks gigantic n macho..

What wheel offset u got there bro? I plan to get a set of 17x9 with offset -20. The tires prob 275/70 r17. Do u think I need a body or suspension lift for that setup? I mean will those rub the front bumper at full turn?

We did a 70mm body lift, 40mm front suspension lift and the front Bumper had to be trimmed extensively

The Wheels are 18's and 9" wide with a + 30 offset

The wheels were ordered from the US, you can order any width, size and offset at no extra cost.
The Vigo uses a 40 to 50 mm positive offset, we couln't find the correct ones localy.
The Rims & Tyres was just over 30K.
