Removing "CAT" Regets?

Post by bfvandermerwe »

Good day.
Removing the cat on a 3.0 D4D.
Must or a not?
Im driving a 2011 D4D Vigo.
I Have checked and seems there is no sensor attached to the cat.
Would there be a negative influence on performance or health of my trokkie?

It will improve performance alot if the cat is totally or partially blocked. Otherwise it's probably best to leave it in!

This was fairly common in the Ford Mustang community in the US. It allowed the exhaust to flow more freely. The only negative effect I remember reading about is the increase in pollution you release into the environment.

The Mustangs had a O2 sensors downstream from the cats, if I remember right. It would light up the Check Engine light if it sensed the cats were not doing their job. The sensor was not attached to the cat.

To answer your question, I had no regrets removing the cats from my Mustang. There were ways around the strict emissions testing we had to go through.

Bennie I have had no negatives with CATS removed. Bit more power & little better consumption...

If I had any regrets at all, it was telling my environmentally conscious friends that I removed the cats. :)
