2016 V6 throttle response

Any suggestions here please. On my previous V6 (2009) the throttle response was much better than the new Hilux. Therefore much more nippier in town driving. No problem on open road and once you are on the go.

That "power" and "eco" buttons to me is a "rumor" - I don't feel any difference.

Is there a way, without going chips/branches etc to "only" increase throttle response?

GUESS - you now have a catalytic converter, thus the airflow is slower to respond ...

I do know that changing the silencer on the diesel to a freeflow made a massive difference to the "responsiveness".

Can only comment on the 2.8 diesel, but there the power and eco buttons makes a massive diffrence!!

Hallo Willem.
Koste is omtrent R2800.

Some feedback: I installed n Chipbox Pedal Booster. The result is very impressive and I can reccomend it. It is only set at about 50% (Chipbox preset) anything more than that the hilux will not be driveable the response will be too fast. Cost almost R2900.

Hallo Willem.

Jag geweer waty gebou is, daai snyerspak en my voertuie se chips.

Stupid question,if the auto 2.8 revo makes 450nm(30 more than the man),does that mean that it's possible to somehow access that' missing' power?.I'm going to need extra horses when I fit 33 muds. What say you power boffs?

Actually very good question.

There is a bit more power loss through an auto than that of a manual.

My guess is that they upped the engine power for the auto through the engine management
to compensate for the drivetrain losses in order to keep the overall performance figures the same.

So maybe time to start shopping for a performance chip to hunt for that extra 30Nm?

It's not a lot though...but it might make a significant difference when fitting those 33"s.

Agreed dirka, thanks for the response. Can you give me an idea what it'll take to put the Revo on 33s,iro suspension mods, body cuts , etc and will I have to deal with tyre rubbing whilst off-road or at full lock?

Hi Ettienne.
33"s on a Revo up til now is still unknown territory.
I have not seen a thread so far shedding light on the subject.
I think most owners are still honoring the factory warrantees and all of that.

Maybe start a new thread and see what happens?
There's some great guys here with good knowledge.

It seems you might be the first to take the leap though...

..and if you do...pse share!

Here is some threads u might want to read first.

Unichip.

Then you get around 170/180 horses on the wheels!
