Just need to seal it up to the aircon condenser and bend some flat bar around the fans to make up a shroud. Sweet

Be very careful when attempting this... it's easy to land up melting the flat bar!Demon wrote:Ag man i was hoping to weld the flat bar on to the hard board Will post the shroud when its back from laser guys and all welded up

Dosent look like much but theres a huge amount of thort that goes into it to get it to this point. Must say the intercooler is a big pain with space. Looking at it now I would think the lexus v8 would be like taking candy from a baby compared to this mod

I cant see you getting over 10km per L with that engine. When I put my 7mge in 5 years ago I thought I would get 8km/l and I got 5km/l
Will be interesting to see what you do get.

You must remember that the 7m and the 1j is worlds apart. The vvt and the turbo makes a big diff on fuel. Standard ecu is also going to sweeten up the deal when it comes to fuel. Guys have done sum tests on the motor and rate between 10 to 13 k per liter but will have to find that out for myself. If it lands up with 5k per liter than i will be totaly honest and post it up

I cant wait. I hope you do get those figures because then I might trade in my 7m for the 1 jz too. If you are using the original ecu, where did you get it from with the harness. I suppose you will need the airflow meter as well.

Half cut is the way to go. Got all the bits that I needed and the motor isn't all bashed up like the loose ones you buy. Bench running the motor is easy but wirring it up once its in the cab and merging it all into one system is not a joke. Im busy dealing with all the wirring now, will post it up in a day or so

If you want decent fuel consumption and power get rid of the auto box it consumes about 50 nm at the wheels and is unreliable since I have seen more broken autos than manual .I sell off the autos that comes with the engines {I only do manual } on a daily basis to guys who broke theirs .

Hey Fana, are you doing these conversions? Maybe it would be best to use the Jumbo manual box if the engine has so much power. I agree with you the auto boxes will break.

Re: 1 jz-gte vvti into hilux Raider 2x4 ( Demon mods )
Yip Japan auto is where it came from. Well as far as the gearbox goes I sure would not have run the 2.7 box behind this monster. Maybe the kzte box but then one would have to watch out for gear ratios. I think it depends on what you are going to be doing with the truck at the end of the day. Iv seen guys posts where they have cleaned out the spline shaft on a getrag 6 speed box so at the end of the day one can brake anything. It could be a case of the auto being worse off with regards to fuel but im not sure on that and it could also be a case that the auto box is not run to its fullest potential with the aftermarket system. Iv got ECT function with the standard which aftermarket cant offer so that could make a diffrence on fuel.

Re: 1 jz-gte vvti into hilux Raider 2x4 ( Demon mods )
Derrick as far as I know the KZTE has the same gearbox and the ratios are determoned by the diff and not the box. Give Japan auto a call and find out about the Jumbo box. It is much bigger but the fits the same and is a lot stronger and will handle all that power.

The 6speed Toyota box is great but hard to find .Yes Gunta I do conversions and manufactor bellhousings and flywheels etc .If you want 6speed I would rather use a 6speed M3 box {have done this for a couple of drifting guys ].

Herd that the prados transfer case is a direct bolt on to that 6 speed box. Would say thats a better way to go than all those adapters and stuff. You could make up a aliy cast sump pan for me on the 1jz ? Im doing a build out of mild steel for the sump and not to happy about it

Ok. The rear sump will be a good fit on the 1j to hilux the only thing is that the oil pick up comes out rite on top of the steering cross so one has to do a bit of a mod to the pickup line. Whats the option of casting just the sump pan ? Im running a dry sump with this motor

I plan to cast the "body" of the sump so that the bowl can be a loose bolt on .That way you can just use a piece of flat ally toclose the hole and use a dry sump .Just as a matter of interist where are you buying the oil pump from ?

Guess one could just plate it of but it would be nice to have a gully in the sump just to catch up some of the oil. Im not going to run a scavenger pump from the sump to the tank, iv got the space so im putting the tank just behind the sump and running a 38 mm tube from the back of the sump straight into the tank and doing two breathers on it. Im using the motors pump as the draw pump, will have to keep a close eye on the oil light on the first few start ups

Thanks Fana, I was just thinking of a way to drop the revs in 5th for fuel economy. At 120 it runs about 3500 rpm on 31" on 33" My speedo will be out so I am not sure what speed I am actually doing. What is the best diff ratio to use for this motor. I have the 8.75, so loads of torque at the bottom and high revs on top.

The 2.7 runs with a 4.8 ratio so I would think its going to work out in such a way that the bottom end is going to be a bit more relaxed and that suits me fine. In turn the top end will be good and im hoping to sit at around 2400 rpm at 140 km/per/h. Hoping it will be around there, it will help on fuel

4.8 sounds a bit high, I thought the 2.7 came out with a 4.55 and the only way you will get down to 2500 rpm at 120 is to use the Kzte diff which is around 4.1

If you like 2400rpm at 140 kpm you need a big american motor .Jap engines like to rev and if you use the auto box your power loss is alot so dont worry if you run 4 .875 diff s atleast it will help a little for the power loss

Ok thanks. So it would than be better for me on a 4.556 ratio. Less pull away and better top end ( please corect me if im wrong ) I dont want it to feel like im getting onto a rodeo horse bare back with this thing. Will be taking off the cover plate and check to confirm ratio.

Would think you rite with regards to the motor needing the rpm high. Had it running on the floor and it was very responsive. Could be a case that it's a bit flat on pull off and maybe a case that I land up facing on coming trafic and dont even know how I got there I will have a better idea once I have it mobileconversion man wrote:If you like 2400rpm at 140 kpm you need a big american motor .Jap engines like to rev and if you use the auto box your power loss is alot so dont worry if you run 4 .875 diff s atleast it will help a little for the power loss

Singel wire line runs thru the cast part of the sump and runs to the motor pick up line

Got it towed to TNT today for the exhaust and the intercooler pipes and hope to have it towed back by this Thursday. Its almost there. Want to do a few short runs without the dash just to make sure. Gear shifter is in and is spot on, it locks into park and locks so that you cant throw it from neutral to revers Unlocks when you push the brake pedal.

I have seen you guys posting up and saying that the auto box is weak. There is no way that you are going to tow a 4 ton trailer with a manul box and not finaly burn out the clutch. There are reasons why the auto box is failing you guys and it's not a weak point on the box. Speak to redhummer, he is the one that has found these problems out and fixed them.

If you tow a 4ton trailer there is only one thing BIG AMERICAN TRUCK with BIG V8 ,preferable a 454 CHEVY or a 460 FORD . No hilux can tow 4ton because you dont have theweight the TAIL will wag the DOG .

Re: 1 jz-gte vvti into hilux Raider 2x4 ( Demon mods )
Ok so im going over board. Redhummer has got a trailer where he can fit a land crusier on and still have space. He tows that with his hilux v8 auto no sweat. Will have to see for myself on how my auto box holds out but in my case the largest trailer that im going to pull is a lazy loader with my bike on. One things for sure the auto box has been done to the book on this thing.

Re: 1 jz-gte vvti into hilux Raider 2x4 ( Demon mods )
Jxz 100 cluster. Just to add some style to the mod. Park lights and all that is working as it should. Just need to get the ERA for the speedo to run. Been running this truck without SPD and there has been no limp mode as some of you guys were talking about. Your problem was else were in the loom. Maybe you should have connected the red to the black and blue to the green
