7mge performance and fuel consumption enhancers.

Guys i have a 7mge in a double cab hilux 4x4.I love the power it puts out at the moment but im wondering are there any aftermarket options to push out the power a little more? how much work do you have to do to the motor to supercharge the engine? ive got a 76mm free flow exhaust on standard branches at the moment,what could i do to the cams?possibly bore the cylinders bigger?gasflow the head?any help would be most appreciated.i wouldnt mind seeing how a supercharger works on my 7mge?

Just my 2 cents worth but somthing you might not like to hear. You should have gone for the 7mgte motor and that would have given you more with a stock standard setup. Super charger and all that is just going to flaten your wallet and you might land up cooking that motor sooner or later. A turbo motor is made up to handel boost from the word go, ie oil sprayers on the crank and the compression ratio is set up for boost. I would have stuck a turbo motor in there from the start and the nice thing is one can always play with the boost level from there, want more power ?? :twisted: no problem, pull out the turbo, shorten the waste gate and in 2 hours you are up and running again.

a friend of mine has a hilux like mine with a 350 v8 and 33s.
With each replacement of parts, a car slowly becomes Chinese.

Wise words. Turbo on the 7M engine is a complete waste of money and probably a one-way ticket to an early grave. The Hilux stopping power does not match the new 'get up and go' power. A turbo would also encourage you to blow your drive train in no time at all and you would have too much power on hand to try control it for off-road use.

Yip.. thats about it... play with the 7M for awhile, get to know it, it is a really nice usable motor. Had mine for 3 years now and still loving it... :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup:

You're going to burn your fingers and probably end up blowing your cylinder head...

Lots of posts about blown heads on 7MG motors, don't encourage it further.

Do a search for them.

Hoppy knows just use a steel head gasket and tighten with hi tensile head bolts.
