Lexus Gearbox Cooler

Hi All,
Will it work if you use a seperate cooler for the automatic transmission fluid instead of using the combined radiator/gearbox cooling.

I know of a guy who fiited a seperate radiator for the gearbox on his Peterbilt truck.
NO overheating problems since.

Dunno if this is exactly what you mean.
