Thought I would give some picks to try break the silence.. This is pritty much how we go about running engines making sure the guys putting them into there hilux's are not putting a non running engine in as well as sorting any sensors that may have been damaged during shipping

Timothy, even with it's plastic trim exterior, thanks one awesome looking engine!

Just outta interest how does it's power delivery compare to the 1GR 4L V6?

1GR-FE
Max. Output
176 kW @ 5200 rpm
236 HP @ 5200 rpm
Max. Torque
361 Nm @ 4000 rpm
266 ftlbf @ 4000 rpm

3UZ-FE
Max. Output
223.4 kW @ 5600 rpm
300 HP @ 5600 rpm
Max. Torque
440 Nm @ 3400 rpm
325 ftlbf @ 3400 rpm

It makes a very nice conversion. Nice looking and fits well. A bit expensive but very smooth with a beautiful drive.
The transmission is the same as the Vigo hilux 1GR ratios so it is better in power and acceleration, but not anything to write home about.
The diff is a bit out of range as far as ratios go 3.5. That needs to be lifted up to around 4.5 or 4.8 and it will have some serious grunt. Remember the vigo sits low on the revs at 120km/h. The 1GR is a high torque engine like the 2UZ. Now with the 3UZ (a car engine that likes revs ) it is a bit slack against what it can give at a higher rev range. It is a bit pointless getting to 120km/h in second gear and then when coasting it sits a bit higher than idle.
It is nearly done as far as I know. Alex still has some ods and ends to attend too and we (Lextreme) still need to sort the diff locks electrical and ecu. then it can go back to his friend. Looks like the diff ring and pin will have to be imported but it isnt too bad the way it is, just could be better.
Electrically we used the standard stuff in the Vigo's setup (fuse & relay circuitry) which made it a conversion as close to how the factory would have make it.

Slap a supercharger on that 3UZ and it's a whole different ball game!

Lol...Very true.. That is the way, but way out expensive. Would consider it but I still need to get my 3uz in.. Still getting the spray work sorted.. Was running the 1UZ vvt-i but am going to pull her out and replace it for a 3UZ. Should get to put it in during December or Jan. Lots to do and little time..

Timothy, besides the wiring harness wars, are the engine mounts compatible or do you have to custom make?
