1uz clutch

Post by Hiluxfan_111 »

Hi everyone
Can someone please tell me what the OD of the 1uz ring gear is?
I am trying to figure out the biggest pressure plate that can fit into the bell housing.
Thanks.

Ok, the od is +/-270mm. You will use the vvTi clutch on it that is 270mm.

Thanks Louis
270mm sounds a bit small though. The bellhousing is about 325mm where the ringgear goes. Normally the ringgear will just clear the inside of the housing. Any more info?

Remember that is the clutch plate dia. Now the flywheel & pressure plate have to come on aswell, then you only have a few mm to spare into the bellhousing.

I recon you want to use a manual gearbox?

Hi Guys
Thanks a lot for the info.
Yip I want to go manual but Im a bit cautious about the clutch. Heard too many horror stories and actually seen one that completely stripped the splines of the friction plate.
Therefore I am looking at a unit from AP racing, meant for road use. The friction plate is 267mm and rated for about 600 Nm. Yes I know its going to cost a bit :o: but I dont want to change it every 10 000km.

What are they asking for one of those clutches?

not quiet sure how to to this gently, so here goes

beware of all the myths and Bs stories out there, people will find bad stuff to say about anything
as for striving the spines on the clutch, I want to see that one, not enough traction or torque for that one, and of that me 100% sure
self have broken the rivets that hold the centre piece of the clutch to the friction plate together
however will not buy that product brand again, that was Valeo clutch

go with a good brand such a Luk Repco, and you won't need any expensive custom stuff
self will be using the original clutch set up, just will be fitting new parts

just see what the other guy on here are using

good luck :beach:
