I haven't heard of anybody using the 2.2 Camry engine in a SFA engine transplant.
I am just curious, why not?
These engines are very reliable and economical.
I have seen 3SGTE transplants but no 5S-FE's.
Any comments?

Camry engines were transversely fitted. problems come in with radiator hoses etc.

Re: 5S-FE (2.2 Camry Engine) in SFA
Hi Guys,
I've got a '92 Camry 220. The body is busy going (rust, dings, etc.), but the engine and interior is still great. As you might know, these wonderful vehicles have got very low secondhand value. I'm thinking of buying the wife something new (used and smaller, e.g. Run-X).
Now I'm contemplating putting this 5s-fe engine in my '92 SFA. This 4Y puts out 75kw @ 5200rpm (not sure about the torque) while the 5s-fe put out 97kw @ 5400rpm (197nm @ 4400rpm). The water hose problem is solvable, but I'm not quite sure about the (1) engine mountings, (2) bell housing / adapter plate, (3) clutch- & pressure plates and (4) flywheel / pilot bearing setup.
If anyone can shed any light on this matter, I would be most grateful.
Shalom
