Hopefully someone can give me more insight.
I am planning an URI build of sorts and this is the plan...
1. Lightweight URI body
2. Lexus front cut from Engines and more
3. Keeping the auto box and OEM management
4. 2 wheel drive running 33"/35" BFG muds
The engine will be set way back in the vehicle to copy the legendary URI go anywhere characteristics. My question is what diff ratio should I put in to accommodate the auto box and obviously the 33"/35" tires. I have 2 Gearmax diffs both with lockers to choose from 4.3 to1 or a 4.875 to 1 , or should I be looking at another ratio?? The vehicle will be used as general run around on the farm and obviously having some fun in the dunes.
Can the power steering from the "front cut" be modified into the URI ?

Did a similar one, fitted 4.55, worked perfect, the Lexus likes to rev, 4.875 will be better if you do more off road, but 4.3 will be to tall
I will take 4.875 it will stil do about 210km/h top end with 35's

Also might be worthwhile fitting a limited slip diff .... without it you will be spinning the wheels too easily. The LSD will force power to both side-shafts when one wheel starts to loose traction, especially when powering out of a corner / curve.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
