2jz gte what bellhousing to use
Hi all im thinking of converting my hilux from my wl-t motor to a 2jzgte motor but i need some advice on what bellhousing to use , i want to fit a automatic gearbox somthing like the gearbox from a 1uz fe motor as the drivability is great on those gearboxes. if it is possable i would like to fit a standard bellhousing and not a welded one so any ideas please
gearbox ?
bellhousing ?
where to source these parts ?
a rough idea of the costs involved ?
thanx a mil

Speak to Mark Watson _ he has just put one of those into a Land Cruiser 1FZ 105 series.

AFAIK you can use the bellhousing from the Lexus IS300 off the shelf from Toyota with a 22R's std gearbox.
Mate of mine is putting the 1uz in his LTD with a KZ box..not sure what bellhousing he's using.

Re: 2jz gte what bellhousing to use
sorry juan a bit late but only saw now , been out of the loop for a while , dont use the 1uz box or the 22r box you will destroy it in no time , get the earlier non vvt 4 speed 2j autobox ( solenoid plug at the rear will be 6 or 8 pin if 12 pin its the 5 speed ) aftermarket dont do a system yet for the 5 speed , the 1uz has less clutches than the 2j but look almost identical , but if you get the 2j box just make sure you get the torque convertor and flex plate if you dont already have , to adapt to the transfer case is easy around 2.5k , you may sit further back than the 1uz but maybe only by 30 - 40mm

Most of the stories I have heard it is better than the 1uz bearing in mind that it has a whole lot more power so you tend to want to use it more. Thats my next engine.

You DON'T want Ali3n's V8 cos he breaks side shafts with it.....Ali3n wrote:ForYota wrote:Ali3n wrote:Most of the stories I have heard it is better than the 1uz bearing in mind that it has a whole lot more power so you tend to want to use it more. Thats my next engine.
