Re: The Rebuilding and modification of a hilux (Lexus V8)
well who asked for more pictures? well here are more picture but of my leaf spring extreme lift kit. you will see but the pictures that the spring have a huge bow in them to give the truck a huge lift. if any of you have looked at my other write up on this site with the big baby blue hilux 4x4 you will see that these spring came off of it and are now mine. but now with these spring come more mods after they have been fitted like the driveshafts brake lines shocks etc.

Re: The Rebuilding and modification of a hilux (Lexus V8)
Even once the weight of the vehicle is on the springs it's going to settle at an awsome height!! You'll have to have a 'drop-down' ladder or something to get in and out .... What about the raised COG, are'nt you afraid that a strong side wind will topple the Lux .
I'm curious as to how you're going to solve the steering connection. Dropping the steering box is one option (perhaps not the best) and lengthening the pitman arm is also not a good idea. You might have to raise the steering arm, either by a huge pedstal spacer, or the design of the arm itself ("S" shaped or " Goose-necked" - excuse the pun ), which will have to be damn strong to eliminate flex. I think this will be one of your more serious challenges, but monsters have been built before and there must be some working solutions out there.
Looks like you will have to dismantle your garage to get it out, .... or you'll have to roll it out on rims ,,, maybe even use some ratchet tie-downs between the chassis and the axles to pull them in toward the body and compress the springs
All in all it's looking good and very interesting so far Like I said, keep us posted .... I know most of us will want to follow your progress.

Re: The Rebuilding and modification of a hilux (Lexus V8)
well i spoke to the guy that i bought the spring off as you would remeber the big baby blue hilux that i put a picture on this site while it was parked infront of a little car well these are the spring that came off of it. the garage is getting modified this weekend coming for me to get it out of the shed. as for the drive of the hilux and spring settling they will be ok as they have the weight on them already. the drop arms is getting made into a s bend and the will be strengthed

Re: The Rebuilding and modification of a hilux (Lexus V8)
I assume you're talking about the 'drag-link' here. Yup, it will have to be substantially stronger than original since the 's' shape will increase the possibility of linear flexing.drop arms is getting made into a s bend and the will be strengthed
Have fun!

well i haven't figured that out yet. but i have a idea on how to get in it as it will have side step plates on it so it will mean that you will have to climb onto the rear tyres and then on to the step plates to get into it

well there won't be much space once the new 3 inch twin exhausts get put in as i want to keep it nice and high off the ground as tomorrow is it first day out due to is getting more work done to it so will be good to see peoples reaction to the truck on the trailer. and yeah i got it out the garage without taking the wheels off as we got the builder in to cut the garage and move the door

Like that draglink, Anthony! I wonder if it will flex a bit when you go over a little bump (like an Uno ) with the one side. A decent (or double) steering damper should help.

It will deffinitly stand out .... and if I may be so bold as to add ... above the rest.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Re: The Rebuilding and modification of a hilux (Lexus V8)
Looking pretty damn sharp from what I can see off those pics already. How is the V8 performing? Any issues with the prop-shafts / suspension / steering?
Look forward to seeing the bigger pics!
